Quote of the Day: Andrew Sullivan on the McCain-Palin mobs

By Michael J.W. Stickings

Andrew Sullivan, on the mob-crazed insanity bubbling over at McCain-Palin rallies and the enabling and encouraging of it by McCain and Palin themselves:

This is getting close to the atmosphere stoked by the Israeli far right before the assassination of Rabin.

Terrifying... but true.

(John Dickerson has more on the mobs here, Jonathan Martin here. And make sure to check out John Cole's post "Beyond Ugly" here.)

  • It loks like McCain now understands what many of us political moderates (I'm a former independent voter - had to become a democrate because of the Bush administration's dishonesty on the big stuff - war, environment, worker rights) see the republican party becoming - a party promoting bigotry.

Evidently he told a crowd at a rally today that republican's had nothing to fear from Obama. That Obama is a patriot too.

Finally. McCain may loose this presidential race but he may have saved the long term prospects of his party.

Let's pray he wasn't to late in denouncing his campagn's former tactic and Obama survives the next month.

    This is very serious.
