Quote of the Day

By Creature

"We keep on hearing from the far right that America is Germany in the 30’s. It may be coming true only there won’t be brown shirts, they’ll be wearing red, white and blue and carrying crosses." -- GregB, commenting over at Balloon Juice.

  • I'll and I'll be right here, ready to put a hollow point bullet in the brain of every jeebus dick-sucking zombie that comes near me! I can hardly wait for the knuckledragging right wing morons to come calling.

  • I suspect our provocative commenter here of insincerity. I'm not taking the bait.

"When fascism comes to America, it will be wrapped in the flag and carrying the cross" is attributed to Sinclair Lewis from It Can't Happen Here.

"It is a peculiarity of the development of American fascism that at the present stage it comes forward principally in the guise of an opposition to fascism, which it accuses of being an “un-American” trend imported from abroad"

-Georgi Dimitrov- in a report delivered at the Seventh World Congress of the Communist International, 1935

"When and if fascism comes to America it will not be labeled ‘made in Germany’; it will not be marked with a swastika; it will not even be called fascism; it will be called, of course, ‘Americanism'"

    NY Times article, 1938

  • I use to say it was like the brown shirts under Bush and the fascism was a little worse but we are getting more problems and worse thanks to the fascist Republican party.
