Is it too early to endorse Rick Santorum for the 2016 Republican presidential nomination?

By Michael J.W. Stickings

You rock, Rick Santorum!

Rick Santorum told The Weekly Standard yesterday that he's "open" to running for president in 2016:

"I'm open to it, yeah," Santorum replied. "I think there's a fight right now as to what the soul of the Republican party's going to be and the conservative movement, and we have something to say about that. I think from our battle, we're not going to leave the field.”

In 2012, Santorum won nearly 4 million votes and 11 GOP primary contests -- the same number of states, he pointed out, Ronald Reagan won in his failed 1976 presidential bid.

You know what, he's right. He's the next Ronald Reagan. He's a one-man bulwark against European socialism, and of anything other than far-right conservatism. He's the future of the Republican Party... and of America.

How did we not see this back during the primaries? Was it his abject stupidity that got in the way? Or his opposition to education? Or his Christianist theocratism?

Whatever.

We at The Reaction supported him in his effort to topple Mitt Romney, just as we supported Newt's, and Bachmann's, and Cain's, etc., and I can now report to you the following:

We are completely open to him running for president in 2016.

All the way, Rick! We wish you all that you deserve.
